Local Michigan Works! gets nearly $118K

The Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium, which serves the Northeast Michigan region, has received $117,824 the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity’s Young Professionals grant program.

Part of $3 million given to Michigan Works! agencies statewide, the grant aims to “to provide youth and young adults with a meaningful introduction to the world of work, including on-site, hybrid and virtual career exploration and preparation activities, jobs skills and earned income,” according to a news release from the state.

Young Professionals supports those ages 14 to 24 “who face barriers on the path to employment by exposing them to multiple career and educational opportunities, such as obtaining work experience or earning an in-demand short-term training certificate,” the news release says.
