DNR reminds Michiganders of safety certificate
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources reminds Michiganders to bring a copy of their Michigan boater safety certificate when utilizing personal watercrafts such as jet skis.
According to the DNR, people born before July 1, 1996, can operate a boat legally without restrictions. Anyone born on or after July 1, 1996, can operate a boat over 6 horsepower only if a boating safety certificate has been issued and is in the driver’s possession. Anyone born on or after Dec. 31, 1978, must have a boating safety certificate to operate a personal watercraft.
