City continues lead inspections

Beginning Monday, representatives of Alpena city government will begin checking for lead in residential water supplies in the area between Fletcher Street and Commerce Drive, Ford Avenue, Woodward Avenue, along Long Rapids Road, and in the Island View and Gilchrist subdivisions.

The city officials will need access to residences and water meters within the homes, the city said in a news release Friday.

The surveys are required by the state’s Lead and Copper Rule, the city said.
