ALPENA — The Alpena Community College softball team will have new leadership next season after the school announced this week it will not renew its relationship with former coach Christin Sobeck.

Sobeck served as ACC head coach for five years, leading the Lumberjacks to a 15-10 conference mark this season, an 18-16 overall record, and the school’s first-ever Michigan Community College Athletic Association Northern Conference championship.

ACC began the search for a new coach and will begin interviews in mid-July. ACC Athletic Director Telgenhof indicated in the release that he hopes to have a new coach in place by Aug. 1.
