Alpena schools placed in secure mode
ALPENA — This morning, school officials placed two Alpena Public Schools buildings into secure mode because of an incident near Alpena High School and Thunder Bay Junior High School, the district announced in a release.
Lee Fitzpatrick, director of communications for APS, would not share details about the incident but called it unrelated to the schools.
Officials locked all school doors and kept students inside the buildings for an unspecified amount of time, according to the release.
Police investigated and cleared the schools to resume normal operation, Fitzpatrick said.
