LEWISTON — A doctor’s call to police led to child abuse charges against a Lewiston mother and her boyfriend, the Michigan State Police reported on Wednesday.

Police arrested Nicole Needham, 30, and Casey Haskin, 29, after medical staff at Otsego Memorial Hospital on Jan. 2 found numerous bruises, internal bleeding, and organ laceration when examining Neeham’s 4-year-old child. The child was also extremely malnourished, police said.

The pair were arraigned on Thursday in Montmorency County. Haskin faces one count of first-degree child abuse, Needham faces a charge of fourth degree child abuse.
