ALPENA ― A mother told police an acquaintance sexually assaulted her minor daughter in July, leading to the arrest of Alpena resident Tyler Siegert, police reported on Tuesday.

The mother and her daughter reported the alleged assault at the Michigan State Police-Alpena Post on July 25. The mother claimed Siegert assaulted her daughter, who was between 13 and 15 years old, in the early morning hours of July 19.

When the Alpena County Prosecutor’s Office authorized an arrest warrant for Siegert, he turned himself in on Aug. 30. The Prosecutor’s Office charged Siegert with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct toward a victim aged 13 to 15. He is next scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 30.
