Threats with a gun and a car crash led Alcona County deputies to discover a cache of weapons and ammunition in a Greenbush man’s home.

Christopher Kaczmarek, 47, was arrested on Friday after deputies from the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office were called to a Mikado Township residence where Kaczmareck allegedly held the homeowner at gunpoint and then fled.

Shortly thereafter, Kaczmarek crashed his vehicle and then ran away again, according to police. When deputies arrived, they spotted Kaczmarek running into a nearby woods carrying a rifle, which he threw into the trees, according to the deputy on scene. He was caught and transported to a hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

A search of Kaczmarek’s home turned up numerous firearms, stun guns, silencers, high-capacity magazines, and thousands of rounds of ammunition, police said.

The Alcona County Sheriff’s Office is working with the FBI and another federal agency on the investigation, which continues. Kaczmarek was charged with assault, illegal possession of firearms by a felon, illegal possession of a stun gun, and drunk driving.
