Man arrested for drunk driving after crash
A man who was put into police custody after he caused a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Ripley Boulevard and U.S.-23 on Friday was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated, police confirmed.
The News previously reported that he was handcuffed at the scene, while the driver of the other vehicle was transported to MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena.
Officers had reasonable suspicion to believe the man — who was administered a field sobriety test at the scene of the crash and staggered noticeably as he walked — was intoxicated, prompting the arrest, a Michigan State Police representative said.
The arrested man was given a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content, the results of which will be available within a few weeks.
