More police cars will be visible on county roads west of Alpena over summer weekends, the Michigan State Police reported.

Troopers from the Alpena Post will make more appearances on M-65 — running through Posen, Long Rapids, and Lachine — and M-33, which stretches between Onaway and Atlanta. The planned increased patrol on Fridays and Saturdays through Labor Day is part of the post’s 2020 summer traffic initiative to reduce crashes.

Motorists are asked to slow down and move over when encountering a police officer making a traffic stop.
