HARRISVILLE — Alcona County will not be known as a Second Amendment sanctuary as several commissioners took issue with the connotation of the word.
Instead, commissioners unanimously supported an amended resolution that reaffirmed their support for the Second Amendment, the sheriff, and the prosecutor.
Mikado Township resident David Adams asked the board to support the original resolution..
It was standing-room only at the meeting, where more than 30 residents packed into the room. Several of those attending were members of the Alcona County Republicans, who came to support the resolution.
A petition with signatures from residents who could not attend the meeting asking commissioners to support the resolution was also presented to commissioners.
