Man who fled police arrested for ecstasy

An Alpena man who last month led police on a multiple-county chase while he was wanted on multiple warrants has now been charged with possession of ecstasy with the intent to deliver.

Jared Barnett, 29, fled police on foot and by vehicle in Alpena at the beginning of October, finally located and arrested in Montmorency County under warrants for witness intimidation, open intoxicants in a vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, and for fleeing and alluding police.

Substances found on Barnett at the time were tested, Michigan State Police report, and found to be MDMA, commonly known as “ecstasy.” Barnett was arraigned in the 88th District Court of Montmorency County and is being held on a 10%, $500,000 cash bond.
