Alpena-area Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officer Jessie Curtis holds an injured snowy owl she rescued in the Hubbard Lake area Saturday morning. Resident Gary Bandrow praised Curtis for her above-and-beyond efforts to help the animal. “She chased the sucker a good half-mile,” Bandrow said. The bird was taken to the North Sky Raptor Sanctuary in Interlochen with a puncture wound and is expected to make a full recovery.
