One person was taken to the hospital after a a two-vehicle crash on U.S.-23 North near Bloom Road Friday afternoon.

Lt. Tom Tolen of the Alpena Township Fire Department said a sports-utility vehicle rear-ended a stopped pickup truck, resulting in heavy damage to the SUV. The driver of the SUV was transported to MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena, while the driver of the pickup refused medical attention. Three children in the SUV were uninjured. The City of Alpena Fire Department and Alpena County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
