Alpena’s Bliss Painting, with help from Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium, recently received $3,735 in Skilled Trades Training Fund dollars to train nine current employees in Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards and procedures, the consortium said in a news release. The shop was also able to hire two new employees.

“The OSHA training made our employees more knowledgeable about their rights related to workplace safety and health, as well as overall home and workplace hazards,” Julie Peters, Bliss’ office manager, said in a news release. “They were able to bring that knowledge back to Bliss Painting and put it to good use — in the shop and on the jobsite.”
