ALPENA – The Alpena County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) advised residents to visit the Alpena County Facebook page for regular updates regarding safety, road conditions, resources and health/safety information, according to an EOC press release on Thursday.
“Please take time to check on your friends, family, and neighbors and contact 911 if you find someone that needs assistance,” the release stated.
The EOC continued to encourage individuals to stay away from flooded areas and to not drive over roads that were covered with water for non-essential travel.
“Please go very slowly through water affected areas,” the release stated.
Closed, or partially closed roads, included the following, as of Thursday morning:
Genschaw, Woodward, Princeton, Golf Course, Sunset, Partridge, Gilchrest, Indian Reserve, Anderson, Salina, Maple Lane, Scott, Hubert, Boilore, Lacomb, Pratt, Hickock, Circle Dr, Cathro, Pliarski, Haken, Kasubowski, Wikaryasz, and Dietz.

Alpena Township boil water notice was still in effect for certain areas of Alpena Township affected by flooding, as of Thursday morning, according to the release. Residents were also encouraged to continue to limit water use as much as possible.
“Both the watershed and the closed water utility systems are handling the volume of water that exists in our community but those levels remain much higher than standard,” the release stated.
Eagle Creek Renewable Energy reported dams in both Hillman and Alpena County were currently sound and not at risk as of Thursday morning, according to the release. Water levels were down at Norway (7 mile) and Hillman dams.
“Time is still needed for the watershed as a whole to clear,” the release stated.
