CHEBOYGAN COUNTY — A 55-year-old woman from Onaway was killed when the vehicle she was driving, traveling east on M-68 crossed the centerline and collided head on with a westbound delivery van.

In a press release on Tuesday, the Michigan State Police- Gaylord Post say it believes the drivers experienced whiteout conditions at the time of the crash. Investigators also believe that the female was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the delivery van, a 45-year-old man from Mancelona, was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 55-year-old-female was transported to the hospital where she died from the injuries she sustained in the crash.

Troopers were assisted by the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, Forest Township Fire Department, Onaway Fire Department, Onaway Area Ambulance, and Indian River Life Support.
