Adventures, love, and forgiveness

Sue Nagy

I’ve just completed a bus trip to see a play via Good Times Tours and Travel. The play was good, lunch was good, but Mother Nature was mad at us.

The snowstorm was so heavy that I could not see out of my big bus window. It took six hours to get from Bay City.

Thank goodness for the quality of our bus driver, Jim Gooden (and his dancing Christmas hat), and thank god that I wasn’t driving.

It’s so pretty to see the snow from my living room couch. The trees look as if they were decorated. From my front window, I get joy from the snow, but with a shovel in my hands, I can call it some nasty names.

A week after my bus trip, I left for Paris via a Viking Cruise. I have heard of the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral all of my life, but seeing them was awe-inspiring. Actually, walking in Notre Dame is an awesome experience.

It is huge.

I walked around with my mouth open in awe. The stained glass windows, the detailed carvings, which looked like they were completed yesterday, and the attention to detail were amazing. Every few steps my mouth fell open with an exclamation of astonishment. Such beauty. Thank goodness they have repaired and reopened. I was told that much of the donations for the repairs came from America. We should feel proud.

I am on a ship with a couple of hundred people I have never met before. Without surprise, I haven’t met any I didn’t like. People from all over the world want the same thing I do. To be liked and appreciated. All the people I have met are worth it. I believe if we give everyone a bit of warmth, they will pass it on. So I say again, Love one another.

The Vikings had many gods, but most of us settle for one.

Most churches teach us not to hate, but to love one another. If you belong to a church that tells you to hate anyone, then it may be time to leave that church. The God I know says we must love all people and forgive those who have done us wrong. Sometimes it’s hard, but maybe the one who was mean had something going on in their life and is hurting and can’t find love. Hitler was evil, but he truly believed that what he was doing was best for his country. I believe that God may forgive him, even if I don’t understand why. I must work on forgiveness since love is the master of all.
