Chopped Challenge raises nearly $6K for Friends Together
ALPENA — Two caring men rose to the Chopped Challenge on Thursday at Players Pub and Grub, raising nearly $6,000 for Friends Together by getting their long hair cut to be donated to Wigs for Kids.
Leo Maiolo, morning host on 105.7 The Bird, and Justin Lahaie, listen and brother of 105.7 The Bird Promotions Director Shannon Roeske, both had long hair when they walked into Players Pub and Grub Thursday afternoon. They both walked out Thursday evening with very short haircuts and great big smiles on their faces. They had just helped kids and adults with cancer all while having a fun time surrounded by supportive community members.
The event drew a large and generous crowd excited to help raise money for those with cancer, all while enjoying the camaraderie and celebration. Hosted by 105.7 The Bird, the event’s initial goal was to raise at least $1,057 so the men would “have to” get their long hair chopped by a stylist from Salon Suzi, but the generous attendees far surpassed that goal.
