Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union (AAACU) recently donated

$500 to the Hometown Heroes in Alcona County.

The purpose of this organization is to honor and celebrate veterans and

first responders. For the past few years, AAACU Team Members Lorna and Stacy have attended this celebration event and presented flags to veterans and first responders in attendance.

This year, the celebration will take place on Sept. 19. During the celebration, a memorial wall will be presented to Hometown Heroes followed by the ceremony for placing flags. Local VFW and Fraternal Order of Eagles come together to present the colors and perform a 21-gun salute. Then the flag placement ceremony will commence. All in all, 70

American flags will fly, along with a flag representing each branch of the military, the state of Michigan and another American flag at the entrance of the event.

AAACU’s donation to support Hometown Heroes is made possible by its Community Investment Fund, comprised of dollars donated back into our communities thanks to credit union members who choose to receive their monthly statements electronically.
