ALPENA — Alpena Public Schools has 28 new teachers joining the staff for Fall 2025, according to a Monday press release. APS welcomes them to the district and the community. APS is particularly proud of their three homegrown first-year teachers, courtesy of Alpena High School Career and Technical Education’s Teacher Academy. The three AHS graduates pictured with teacher Sarah Bedford were part of the first year Teacher Academy CTE program in 2020/2021. All new teachers completed a two-day orientation last week including a tour of all district facilities and the community. They represent a youth movement. Around 58% of APS staff members are in their first five years of teaching, a complete reversal of staffing numbers five years ago when a majority of staff had 20 or more years of service.
