ALPENA — The Alpena High School boys golf program showcased its depth at the 2025 Alpena Invitational, fielding three full teams in a competitive 16-team field on Friday. The Wildcats’ top squad tied for eighth with a team score of 346, while Alpena 2 and Alpena 3 gained valuable tournament experience.

Alpena Varsity (346)

Alpena’s top team was led by junior Andrew Glomski, who carded an impressive 82 to finish 16th overall. Senior Kaleb Werth followed closely with an 86, while Gus Wirgau posted an 87. Preston Schuldt added a 91, Carter Koproski shot a 96, and Carter Green rounded out the team with a 105. The Wildcats tied for eighth with Gaylord 2.

Alpena 2

Alpena 2’s lowest scores came from freshman Karsen Liske and senior Keller Skiba, who both shot 89 to tie for 43rd place. Freshman Grayden Orlowski recorded a 98, followed by senior James Henski with a 99. Lucas Thomson added a 112 and Noah Tolan shot a 117 for Alpena’s second squad.

Alpena 3

Alpena 3 gained valuable experience, led by junior Gavin Winterstein, who was +15 through nine holes. Freshman Drew Gauthier led the team with a 110, followed by Cayden Winfield (105), Ethan Hamp (117), Noah Roznowski (125), and Tyler McKenzie (126).

Team Results

Traverse City West took home the team title with a score of 309, followed by Traverse City Central (315) and Gaylord (316). Alpena’s top team finished ahead of several strong programs and continued to show steady progress as they move through their spring schedule.

The Wildcats will look to build on this performance in their upcoming Big North meets, aiming to drop strokes and stay competitive in a tightly packed league.
