∫ “Stop the Clock: How to Keep Your Brain Young”

Harvard Psychiatrist and Best-Selling Author, John J. Ratey, MD, shares how Alcona County is the ideal place to work on keeping your brain young, and what we can all be doing to boost our emotional and cognitive health. This event will be at the Alcona County Library in Harrisville from noon to 1:30 p.m. There is no charge and a light lunch will be provided. Please call 989-724-6796 to sign up.

∫ Whether you’re an experienced chef or a beginner in the kitchen, this club welcomes individuals of all skill levels who have a passion for cooking and a desire to learn and experiment with new flavors at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library, 5 p.m. Choose and make any recipe from this month’s recipe book, The I Hate to Cook Book by Peg Bracken, then share your creation with other club members. ∫ Participate in a motorcycle Poker Run to benefit local libraries! This is a charitable ride where motorcyclists follow a designated route, making stops at select libraries to draw playing cards. After the ride, participants gather to reveal their poker hands, compete for a prize for the best hand, and celebrate the cause. Riders will depart from the Oscoda County District Library (430 W 8th Street, Mio) at 9:30 a.m. or from the East Tawas Library (760 Newman Street, East Tawas) at 10:30 a.m. The cost to play will be $25.
