Bruce and Julie Dietz

Bruce and Julie Dietz celebrated 40 years of marriage on Sept. 5.

They met on Dec. 19, 1975 at a Wildcat hockey game at the Michikewis Barn. When Julie got home that evening, she woke her mom up to tell her about the boy she met at the game. Five years later, they were married by Bruce’s father, Rev. Carl Dietz, at Long Lake Chapel. Even though his dad had performed hundreds of weddings, including those of his three other children, he was nervous about this one. Somehow, he forgot to have Julie repeat the wedding vows. The family joke is that while Bruce is married, Julie is not!

The couple has two children, Justin (Lisa Hickok) Dietz of Gaylord and Kayla (Erik) Grangood of Petoskey. They also have two beautiful grandchildren, Luka Bernard Grangood and Elin Margaret Dietz.

They look forward to celebrating with a family trip at a later date.
