James and Jeanette Amell of Scott Road, Hubbard Lake, formerly of Waterford, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 22.

Mr. Amell and the former Jeanette Bartz were married June 22, 1963, at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Herron by the late Rev. Willard Merce. They were employed by Waterford Schools and after retirement moved north.

The couple have three children: Tom (Nan Radke) Amell, Suzanne (Eric) Quilitzsch, and Steve (Jodie Johnson) Amell. They also have eight grandchildren: Jacob, Zachary and Rebecca Amell, Megan and Ali Quilitzsch, Parker, Brady and Addison Amell.

In celebration, the entire family will spend a week together at Oak Grove Lodge on Otsego Lake in Gaylord.
