PRESQUE ISLE — If you’re looking for a spooky good time on Saturday, Oct. 11, head out to the Presque Isle Harbor for the fourth annual Old Presque Isle Lighthouse Pumpkin Stroll.
The Halloween-themed event, which has drawn over 3,000 participants in the past, is free and family-friendly, but get there early and be prepared to park and walk, as this has become a very popular event for people of all ages.
It begins at 7 p.m. at the Presque Isle Harbor, and continues to approximately 9 p.m. A quarter-mile path through the woods to the Old Presque Isle Lighthouse will be lined with hundreds of jack-o-lanterns lining the trail to the lighthouse, which has the reputation of being haunted.
Community members are welcome to carve their own pumpkins to be included in the display. If you would like to carve a pumpkin (or two, or 10) prior to the event, it needs to be dropped off at the trailer in front of Jill VanAssche’s home at 6253 E. Grand Lake Road. Please include a battery-operated candle in all pumpkins dropped off. If you would like your carved pumpkin back, put your name in permanent marker on the back, and pick it up on Sunday morning. Any pumpkins not picked up on Sunday will be used in other displays around the area.
