ALPENA — The Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan and its Youth Advisory Councils, or YACs, extends its gratitude to everyone who donated on Youth Advisory Council Day last month to support your local young grantmakers. A total of $5,630 was raised on May 6 to support YACs across the region. As a friendly competition prize for raising the most funds that day, the Northeast Michigan YAC won Mac the Golden Yak. Some Northeast Michigan YAC members gathered on Monday to celebrate, thank their donors, and “officially” accept their prize.

Mac will spend the next year on a tour of the different schools and YACs within Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency, and Presque Isle counties before setting off on a new adventure next year.
