Alpha Xi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma honors teachers
ALPENA — Members of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Alpha Xi Chapter, met on Jan. 31 at Jimmy Chen’s Hunan Chinese Restaurant for dinner and a special program.
After dinner, special guest Lauren Mantlo, librarian at Alpena Community College, spoke to the group about the latest trends in educational technology, including gamification, augmented and virtual reality, and the shift toward online learning since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before the meeting adjourned, members assembled 41 bags containing tootsie rolls to be distributed to the staffs of the schools, administrative offices and bus garages in Alpena, Atlanta, Hillman, Millersburg, Onaway, Posen and Rogers City. This activity was undertaken to show the group’s appreciation to the educators and personnel employed by these districts for their continued efforts to educate the children in their care.
