ALPENA — Local artist Erwin P. Lewandowski was notified recently that his colored pencil drawing was chosen for the International Guild of Realism 2022 Fall Salon Online Exhibition.

The event is scheduled to run from Oct. 20 through Dec. 20.

His entry, “River Rock Collection IV,” is a drawing of a river slowly moving into a large rock landscape. The scene is from the Gooseberry River in Minnesota and features rays of sunlight cutting through the water and distorting a collection of rocks below the surface. Shadows along the rock edge, a hidden pool of rocks, and a number of colorful shapes add depth to this waterscape composition.

“The IGOR organization continues to be one of the top venues in the world for realism painters,” Lewandowski said. “Each year, they host three exhibitions and to be accepted into one is quite an honor. The event drew over 650 entries from 20 countries and featured a diverse media range that included oil, acrylic, watercolor, soft pastel, gouache, charcoal, colored pencil, graphite pencil, ink, egg tempera, and scratchboard.”

Lewandowski and his wife, Mary, reside along the shoreline of Lake Huron in Alpena. To learn more about the artist and his artwork, visit erwinplewandowski.com.
