Alpena Community College student Meryem Demirkol was presented a $500 award as the recipient of the 2020-21 Association of Lifelong Learners at Alpena Community College Scholarship. Demirkol came to Alpena two years ago from Turkey in pursuit of higher education and a better life. She is currently in her second year at ACC, pursuing a degree in elementary education. Upon graduation from ACC next spring, she plans to transfer to CMU to complete her bachelor’s degree and become a third- or fourth-grade teacher.

ALL was founded in 1998 and is a nonprofit organization which sponsors, promotes and encourages lifelong education and enrichment experiences for people of all ages in northeast Michigan. ALL established a scholarship fund with the ACC Foundation in 2012. Their scholarship provides a $500 award to a full or part-time non-traditional student who is pursuing a degree or certificate at ACC.
