Kitten adopt-a-thon and bottle drive for animal shelter Saturday

A Kitten adopt-a-thon and can/bottle drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kadrich Family Chiropractic building at 1015 U.S.-23 North next to Perch’s IGA.

Proceeds will benefit Second Chance Animal Shelter at Alpena County Animal Facility. Applications are available at Kadrich Family Chiropractic or at the Adopt-a-thon.

“These kittens are very social thanks to our awesome foster families and we highly encourage adopting in pairs, especially if there are no other cats in your home,” a press release said.

Thanks to a sponsor, adoption fees this weekend are only $25 for one kitten, or $50 for two. An additional refundable spay/neuter deposit is required at adoption. The kittens have been FeLV tested, received age appropriate vaccines and come with a free spay/neuter certificate courtesy of Switzer Veterinary Clinic and Sunrise Veterinary Services to be used once the kitten is old enough for surgery.

Cans and bottles will be accepted to help with the costs associated with helping the homeless and abandoned animals the shelter is caring for.

The shelter appreciates everyone for the amazing support, and they can’t wait until they have their shelter up and running so that they can do so much more.
