ACC Community Education offering variety of August classes

Alpena Community College Community Education programs are planned for August.

Addiction

ACC Community Education presents “Aspects of Addiction” with Joe Garant from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3. Garant will address questions such as: Why is addiction a disease? What are the genetic factors? Why is addiction a disease of the brain? When does something become an addiction? How is addiction treated? Much more valuable information will be presented in PowerPoint along with handouts. The fee is $20.

Excel

On Wednesdays, Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26, ACC Community Education presents “Beginning Excel” with Musa Kabbah from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Learn the basics of creating spreadsheets using Excel. Create and format simple spreadsheets and calculate data using basic formulas and functions, Learn about entering, selecting, moving and copying data; saving and basic nomenclature. Basic computer usage/knowledge are required. The fee is $75.

Meditation

ACC Community Education presents “Meditation & Mindfulness” with Amy Traylor from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 10. Meditation is an ancient practice that has a long history of use for increasing calmness and physical relaxation, as well as improving psychological balance. In this class, you will learn techniques of meditation and mindfulness, benefits to the mind, body and spirit, as well as mental balance. The fee is $35.
