Thanksgiving dinner in Onaway

VFW Post 5857 in Onaway is hosting a Thanksgiving dinner at noon Thursday, open to the public. Join them for a great meal with all the trimmings, available until 3 p.m. or until the food runs out.

Art in the Loft classes

Art in the Loft hosts two classes Friday. The first is a class for kids, Canvas and Cuisine Holiday Kick-Off, from 10 a.m. to noon, for ages 5 and up, for $25 each. Then from noon to 2 p.m. is a drop-in Wine Glass Painting make and take for $5 per person.

Then, Saturday Morning Art (smART) is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. for ages 5 and up, for $15 per student.

British Style Sausage Rolls & Braids by Nichola Cornelius, is from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, for ages 13 and up, for $45 per person.

Art in the Loft will host a baking class, Cakes by Kids: Christmas Cupcake Edition, with Brookie’s Goodies, from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, for ages 6 and up, for $45 per student.

K of C breakfast buffet Sunday

Alpena Knights of Columbus Council 529 at 1880 Hamilton Road, breakfast buffet is from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, serving potato pancakes, buttermilk pancakes, sausage, ham, French toast, fried potatoes, bread, rolls and beverages, for $9 per adult, $4 for ages 6 to 12, and free for 5 and under.

Longbeards to meet Tuesday

The Alpena Longbeards will have their monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Moose Lodge on Werth Road. For more information, call 989-354-4964.

MidMichigan (ARMC) luncheon

The monthly MidMichigan (ARMC) luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the 19th Hole.

First Tuesday with Friends will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Onaway Historical Courthouse, on the second floor.

Stephanie Schubel with the Great Lakes Piping Plover Conservation Team will present an informative program about an 11-year study on this endangered species of bird and its fragile habitat in the Great Lakes region.

Bridge winners announced

This week’s Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club winners were Gayle Nowak and Deanna Brege in first place, Mark Wolshom and Dale Middleditch in second place, and Fred Woolman and Eve Phillips in third place. Harrisville jam session Dec. 6
