Lions learn about Ramada Inn

Kat Gray, marketing and events director at Alpena’s Ramada Inn, was the speaker at the June 11 meeting of the Alpena Lions Club.

For many years the Ramada Inn had been Alpena’s only full-service inn, but just recently has had some competition. Program chair for the meeting was PDG Beverly Bodem.

Gray noted that she performs lots of varied duties at the Ramada Inn, as they now seek to be more a part of the Alpena community. They now assist many organizations in lots of ways. This has created constant change at the Ramada Inn.

For example, recently they sponsored their first charity event involving adoptable pets. The Ramada Inn plans to continue sponsoring many events in Alpena. And if the Lions have any suggestions they would be glad to listen.

An interesting part of their program is the variety of foods they prepare and offer to guests. PDG Dave Zeller expressed appreciation to Gray for the Ramada Inn’s capable hosting of the Lions District 11E2 Convention held there for three days in May.

President Mike Centela reported that the recent sale of Lions Sweepstakes tickets raised $3,236 for use of the Alpena Lions Club.

Tom Woizeschke reported that the recent White Cane street sale, which raised $2,350, involved 21 Lions and one Lions spouse. Top collectors were Joe Garant, Mike Hamilton, Bernie Lamp Jr., and Krista Morrow.
