Calling all detectives, nosy neighbors, eavesdroppers, gossipers, and anyone else who likes to be entertained while enjoying a good meal.

Alpena High School Masquers Club presents “Did Someone Say Murder?” Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18, at Grace Lutheran Church in Alpena. This murder mystery dinner theater features a cast of 16 students and three to five more students as servers.

First-time director Jordan Hand is impressed with the students’ talent and efforts.

“You’ll see the kids having a lot of fun because there’s a lot of passion and energy behind this project, which I am personally very proud of,” said Hand, a performer and administrative apprentice at Thunder Bay Theatre.

Audiences can expect fast-paced fun with this production, which will be a staged reading with scripts in hand. The playwright is David J. LeMaster.

“There are a lot of words, and there are a lot of moving parts,” Hand explained. “It is a zany farcical parody. You can expect twists and turns. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry from laughing so hard.”

“It’s a modern setting in a very fancy restaurant,” Hand added.

Cast members are Joey Lanier as Joe, Lexie Lino as Mary, Adriana Helinski as Hostess, Thomas Jore as Elsinore, Ashlyn Schaedig as Mrs. Elsinore, Jillian Pilarski as Mrs. Salt, Andrea Coffman as Mrs. Cabbage, Collin Heath as Waiter, Morgan Glennie as Waitress, Austin Heath as Cook, Olivia Gerhart as Manager, Phineas Imhoff as Rathbone, Tori Eller as Flower Girl, Logan DenBleyker as Mr. Mithington, Madison Ellis as Mrs. Mithington, and Nicole Jore as Busser.

Hand said in addition to the cast, “Tabitha Camp has been stage managing this, and she’s been indispensable.”

Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $15 per adult, and $10 per child ages 12 and younger.
