Story Book Gala to mark library’s 50th anniversary

Alpena County Library is holding a Story Book Gala on June 10 at 7 p.m. at the library. Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the library’s establishment as a county library, this magical event will celebrate the past, present and future of the library.

A gourmet strolling dinner will be provided by The Fresh Palate with whimsical sweets from As You Wish Gourmet Bakery. The evening will be a unique after-hours library experience, including a wine pull, music by Charles Madison, MakerLab Tinker Tuesday petting zoo, and special guests State Librarian Randy Riley and Michigan Notable Book Author Maureen Dunphy.

When asked about the significance of this milestone, Library Director Eric Magness-Eubank said, “We are happy for the opportunity to serve the community for so many years. Our service is built on thousands of moments – parents reading to their children, of the joy and discover of something new, of amazing programs, of finding a good book. We hope to bring many more joyful moments over the next 50 years.”

Tickets for this fundraising event are $50 per person, with proceeds benefiting the Library Improvement Fund.

For more information or to purchase tickets, visit the library’s website at www.alpenalibrary.org/storybookgala or call Jessica Luther, library development coordinator, at 356-6188, ext. 25.
