The Hillman High School boys varsity basketball team dropped a tough one on the road on Friday, falling to Tawas 66-52. Once again plagued by early foul trouble, the Tigers allowed a 6-0 run to end the first period and a 5-0 run to start the second quarter. The Hillman squad would get down 19, but did outscore Tawas in the second half 31-26. Leading scorer for Hillman was sophomore Ty Muszynski with 19 points and eight rebounds. PREP ROUNDUP: Alpena swim beats Chesaning

On Thursday, Alpena’s varsity boys swim team defeated Chesaning 96-73. “Effort, focus and determination was demonstrated by all swimmers,” coach Jennifer Johnson said. Top Scorers were seniors Alex Winfield and Drew McConnell with the maximum points of 16 each. Other top contributors included freshman Joshua Short with 15 and senior Kaleb Werth with 11 points. The Alcona High School boys basketball team lost to Grayling on Tuesday, 72-41. Evan Borsvold led the Tigers with 20 points. Gavin Dellar added seven, Cole Upper added five, and Edju Hechlik added four to round out the top scorers of the night for Alcona. Alcona plays at home against Posen tonight at 7:30 p.m.
