PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Hillman boys fall to Tawas
The Hillman High School boys varsity basketball team dropped a tough one on the road on Friday, falling to Tawas 66-52.
Once again plagued by early foul trouble, the Tigers allowed a 6-0 run to end the first period and a 5-0 run to start the second quarter. The Hillman squad would get down 19, but did outscore Tawas in the second half 31-26.
Leading scorer for Hillman was sophomore Ty Muszynski with 19 points and eight rebounds. Senior guard Brendan Rouleau would add 15. Junior forward Aedan Tucker would contribute eight points and seven rebounds.
“We are playing good basketball in spurts but haven’t put together a complete game since the opener vs. Oscoda,” head coach Eric Muszynski said. “We have to do a better job with our fouls and tonight we turned the ball over a ton as we had 22 turnovers. We also didn’t defend the three-point line well, which we typically do. Tawas made eight of their 11 three-pointers in the first half, which was a hole that was very difficult to dig out of especially on the road. Lot’s of good things and a few things we need to clean up to be great.”
ALCONA GIRLS FALL TO POSEN
The Alcona High School girls varsity basketball team lost to Posen on Friday by a score of 37-33.
Leading scorers for Posen were Molly Chappa with 13, Callie Krajniak with 11, Ella Hincka with eight, and Ava Ewing with five.
Leading scorers for Alcona were Claire Somers with 14, Elliyana Grimshaw with eight, and Joanna Steiner with three. Rilee Tracy, Piper Whitefield, Gracyn Tracy, and Hanna Reachenski each had two points.
