Alpena animal control needs to be left alone

Our County Board of Commissioners recently made a disappointing revelation. Talks have been going on that could transfer the housing of animals in the charge of our “Animal Control Shelter” to a local “protection shelter”. Could animals’ welfare possibly lose law enforcement protection? We need to be asking questions. I have volunteered for nearly 20 years with both types of shelters in Alpena County. I am always thrilled by the arrival of spring

Spring is here. As a snowbird returning to her roots of Alpena soon, I’m looking forward to this season once again. I have experienced so many springs. As usual I am still thrilled by its arrival. No matter if its coming is dragged out or immediate, I can count on the season of spring year after year. I plan for it. I love experiencing the firsts of spring. Keep people safe, slow down for all lights

I have three grandsons and a son-in-law that work on the road every day, so please slow down when you see flashing lights and yellow or red lights. Make a difference, please clean your yards

Spring is just around the corner. Just a reminder to the residents of Alpena to take stock of their yards as during the winter they may have become cluttered and if the city follows up on the debris ordinance and cites the junk vehicle properties it’s sure to make a difference in your neighborhood as we don’t need the eyesore. The biased national news needs a catch-tray

March 8 was the most unbelievably comical night I have ever seen on the NBC Nightly News. Some kitchen toasters have a catch-tray underneath to catch the unwanted debris. With the biased, leftist anti-white deluge of disinformation, distortion, and lies the new TVs should have a catch-tray like toasters. My reason is, what the national news is feeding us daily, the tray would need to be 10 times larger than the TV. Fond memories of Alpena’s 1965-66 team

The recent photo of the 1965-66 Wildcat basketball team brought back a fond memory of Alpena sports. It was March 1966 and the underdog Wildcats were in the hunt for a state championship. I was a student at ACC. On game nights, my roommate and I would listen to WATZ AM radio to catch the tournament basketball games. The drama and excitement matched that of the famous “Hoosiers” movie.Typically, Alpena would be down several points near the end of the contest. They would rally and win!
