Will U.S. face the wrath of an angry God?

Dear Sirs/Madams: Donald Trump, with the strong backing of evangelicals, has promised retribution once he is reelected. The similarity between Israel’s Benjamin Netanyaho and USA’s Donald Trump becomes quite apparent. Two men intending retribution to win the next election by bringing down two of the world’s greatest democracies and staying out of jail. What is the possible extent of retribution and how is it used? Retribution, according to the Old Testament of the Bible: The omnipotent power to punish by the wrath of an angry God. And who will it be used to ...

Is there a crisis at the US border or not?

Which is it, Rep. Jack Bergman and MAGA Republicans? Is there a crisis at the U.S. southern border or not? Senate Republicans and Democrats came to a rare consensus agreeing on a sweeping immigration bill. A bill which if passed in the GOP-controlled House and signed into law would address a generation of legislative neglect by both parties. Passage in the House should have been a slam dunk. Wrong! Donald Trump, fearful that the bill’s passage, would make President Joe Biden look strong on border protection and likely help Biden’s reelection chances, called for the House to ...

Schools must fix canceled bus routes quick

Today, Feb.13, 2024, bus 16-C, the elephant, has been canceled from making its a.m. and p.m. routes for both elementary and secondary students. This is the second day in a row that this has happened. Last Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, the bus made its morning runs for elementary and secondary students. Later in the morning, I received a call from the school, letting me know that the bus would not be making its p.m. runs, leaving the students that it took to school in the morning at school, leaving parents to scramble on ways to get their kids home. This is becoming quite a problem. ...

Protect immigrants on this Caregivers Day

This National Caregivers Day (Feb. 16), let’s make sure we recognize the critical role of immigrants in our care workforce, our community, the economy, and, most importantly, in our families. Our population is aging at a faster rate than we’re able to hire new home-care workers. Which means we’re now facing a huge care workforce shortage. That means our elderly or disabled loved ones could go without care if we don’t address this! Already, immigrant caregivers make up 27% of the direct care workforce — including home health aides, child care workers, and nursing assistants. ...

Let’s end the comedy of presidential elections

Dear Sirs/Madams: You’re being played. America has a two-party political system that has rendered itself into having presidential elections that are all about winning. Republicans support candidate Donald Trump and Democrats support candidate Joseph Biden. Country, laws and legal precedence, religion, and reality be damned. Again, it’s all about winning, and both sides want to win at any cost. Reaching the point where neither side is rational and can even begin to talk to the other. America is losing, and what are we gaining? I am a 76-year-old male and I can guarantee you ...

Karamo is the grassroots party chairwoman

Donald Trump putting his stamp of approval on Pete Hoekstra and undermining the actual legally seated Republican state chair, Christina Karamo, is very bad for Michigan and the Republican Party. Trump has endorsed corruption, perhaps unwittingly. The people that “voted” in Hoekstra on Jan. 6, 2024 did not do it legally or according to the bylaws of the Michigan Republican Party, and are carrying out their plan against the will of the 2,100 elected delegates, of which I am one, who voted for those bylaws and Karamo by a landslide at the last state convention (2023). Just for ...
