Open the playbooks from 1938 by you know who. Move in and free the people as they need our guidance, and we need to have their land. If need be, do it by military force and blame the other person while taking the Panama Canal that we built many decades ago. Coerce people with threats, money or economics, because we need to have part of their country, mainly Greenland — that already has a U.S. base — to secure our country. As two new members prepare to attend their first meeting of the Board of Education of Alpena Public Schools on Monday, they are reminded that the principal responsibility of the district is to prepare students for their future, no matter where they live and regardless of what they do after they leave Alpena High School — join the workforce or the military, begin an internship, or enroll in a trade school, college or university. To the Editor: As the new year approaches, a look back at the 2024 election is rather revealing. It appears that enough voters had some success with the school board. Stepping out from there, with perhaps a few exceptions on township boards, the county treasurer, and two U.S. senators, Presque Isle County residents are represented by people who knowingly put their names on the ballot beneath a convicted felon in Donald Trump. ‘Nutcracker’ was enchanting performance

I am writing to express my heartfelt thanks to Christine Giordano, the dance instructor and owner of The Dance Centre, for the exceptional community presentation of “The Nutcracker.” It was a truly magical experience and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to witness such a high-quality production right here in Alpena. I’m not sure how many years she has presented this ballet, but I do know my own daughter was Candy Cane in the very first performance in 1997. A curious appointment to the library board

Last week, the Alpena County Board of Commissioners had the opportunity to maintain an Alpena County library board that has a unified vision and intent to steer the library in accordance with the policies and laws that regulate library functioning. Instead, and in violation of the Open Meetings Act and transparency in government, behind closed doors commissioners unanimously voted to seat two new library board members prior to public input.
