According to the Alpena County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control, the department is collecting cans and bottles to raise money that will support their shelter guests.

Community members can drop off their cans or bottles at any time at the shelter located at the Alpena County Fairgrounds. The returnables can be dropped over a chain link dog kennel behind their storage shed.

If the items are breakable, the department asks individuals to leave those items under the lean-to in front of the shelter.
