ATLANTA, Mich. — Charles Waldroup, 88, charged with assault with intent to murder, had his examination that was scheduled for Friday adjourned.
Waldroup appeared via Zoom in the 88th District Court in Montmorency on Friday with Attorney Bill Pfeifer. Judge Lora Greene presided.
Waldroup’s examination was adjourned to allow for an evaluation of competency and criminal responsibility.
His bond was modified to allow a family member to speak with him over the phone or by email, but he is not allowed in-person contact with that person for everyone’s safety and peace of mind, Judge Greene said.
The date of Waldroup’s next appearance in court will be determined once the results of the competency evaluation have been received by the court.
