Hurons won’t travel for playoff game

Rogers City High School athletic director Karl Grambau and superintendent Nick Hein met with football coach Jesse Fenstermaker on Thursday and made the call that the Hurons will not play travel to Iron Mountain for a Division 8 playoff game originally scheduled for Saturday.

Due to Dicksinson County being a hot spot for COVID-19, it was determined that the Hurons traveling to play there was too risky. Local health officials left it up to the schools to decide to play or not.

Ultimately, the decision to not play was made with the safety of coaches, players and fans in mind.

The Hurons finish the season with a 2-4 record with a pair of wins over Alcona on the last play of the game both times.
