PREP ROUNDUP: Wildcats fall to Petoskey in Big North match

PETOSKEY–The Alpena High volleyball team lost to Petoskey on Tuesday in four sets: 11-25, 14-25, 25-22 and 15-25.

Kate Skiba led the Wildcats with 17 kills and 23 digs. Jade Gray added 15 assists and 14 digs.

Rogers City 3, Hillman 1

HILLMAN–The Rogers City volleyball team defeated Hillman in four sets in Hillman on Tuesday.

The Hurons won 25-15, 20-25, 25-15, and 25-17.

Angelina Hunt had three aces, five digs, six kills and a block for Hillman; Jessie Jones had four kills and five digs; Emma Libby had 12 digs, six assists and a kill; Emalie Lis had four aces, six digs, three kills and a block and Julia Taratuta had an ace and 26 digs.

Alpena competes in Harbor Springs

HARBOR SPRINGS–The Alpena High girls golf team competed in its second tournament in as many days on Tuesday, traveling to Boyne Highlands for the Harbor Springs Invitational. The Wildcats had a team score of 472, with Kennedy Ellis leading the way. Ellis took second overall after shooting an 89. Gianna Bolda shot 112 for Alpena; Brianna Boyk shot 132; Rebekah Carlson shot 139; Katie Kurowski shot 142, and Sydney Silver rounded out the team with a 149.Jacque O’Neil was the individual medalist with a 78, and her Harbor Springs Rams were the champions, with a team score of 395.

Alpena hosts a Big North Conference event Friday at Alpena Golf Club.

On Monday, Alpena turned in its lowest score of the season, carding a team score of 429 at the Cadillac Country Club during a Big North Conference meet.

Ellis led Alpena with a 91, Bolda had a 105, Mykenize Klimczak had a 115, Boyk had a 118, Carlson had a 124, and Amelia Carlson had a 150. 

Anci Dy of Traverse City West led the field with a 66, and West was the winning team with a score of 319.

BOYS TENNIS

Traverse City Central 8, Alpena 0

The Alpena High boys tennis team hosted Traverse City Central in a Big North Conference event on Tuesday and lost 8-0.

For Alpena, Harrison Butch lost at No. 1 singles (0-6, 0-6); Dan Cox lost at No. 2 singles (1-6, 6-0); Connor Caplis lost at No. 3 singles (0-6, 0-6); Will Bushey lost at No. 4 singles (0-6, 0-6); Logan DenBleyker and Nick Lusardi lost at No. 1 doubles (1-6, 0-6); Evan Goff and Avery McConnell lost at No. 2 doubles (0-6, 0-6); and Will Schultz and Tyler Cloft lost at No. 3 doubles (0-6, 0-6).
