PREP ROUNDUP: Alpena falls in road game at Western

BAY CITY–The Alpena girls basketball team had trouble keeping pace with Bay City Western on Tuesday and lost 56-42.

Alpena (9-6) trailed 20-11 after one quarter, 36-19 at halftime and 46-28 after three quarters.

Jade Schultz led Alpena with 15 points and Allie DeRocher had 12.

Alpena hosts Traverse City West on Thursday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Oscoda 68, Oscoda 30

LINCOLN — The Oscoda boys basketball team keeps rolling through its regular season schedule.

The Owls’ latest victim was North Star League Big-Dipper division foe Alcona.

Oscoda trounced the Tigers 68-30 on Tuesday night to improve to 14-0 on the season.

Owen Franklin poured in a game high 22 points to lead the Owls. Gavin Lueck finished with 16 points and Brayden Mallak added 14 points.

Dominic Howe and Mason Clark each scored seven points for Alcona.

Inland Lakes 52,

Rogers City 43

INDIAN RIVER — The Rogers City boys basketball team had a night off from North Star League play and appeared to lack a bit of motivation in a 52-43 loss at Inland Lakes.

The Hurons trailed 30-18 at the half and couldn’t recover from a slow start.

Nick Freel once again led the Hurons, but was held to 13 points snapping his streak of 20 point performances. Lewis Fleming finished with 10 points and J.D. Ellenberger chipped in with seven points in the losing effort.
