PREP ROUNDUP: Vikings win big over Pats

ST. HELEN — The Posen football team traveled to take on Charlton Heston on Friday and despite difficult playing conditions due to Friday’s rain fall, the Vikings came away with a dominant 44-8 victory.

The weather could not slow down Posen running back Tyler Hincka who continues to shine as he rushed for 201 yards on just eight carried and found the end zone three times.

“We’re glad to get out of there with a win considering the conditions were tough to play in. We’re happy with the win,” Posen coach Greg Pietsch said. “Everyone got to play and not we focus our attention on Au Gres in our homecoming game next week. We are going to take in one game at a time and treat every game as if it is a playoff game. That’s the mentality we have and we want to finish the regular season strong.”

The Vikings improve to 4-3 overall.

Alcona 6

EAST JORDAN — The Alcona football team was on the receiving end of a 20-6 road loss to East Jordan on Friday.

The Tigers’ loss drops them to 2-5 overall on the year.

Alcona will play Coleman in Week 8.

Sault Ste. Marie 36. Rogers City 0

SAULT STE. MARIE–The Rogers City football team had a rough night on Friday, losing to Sault Ste. Marie 36-0.

The Blue Devils struck fast, building a 22-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and built that lead to 30-0 by halftime.

Sault scored on a 61-yard by James Haskey early in the first quarter and added two more scores before the end of the period. The Blue Devils forced a three-and-out and fumbled, but recovered it and took it 27 yards for a touchdown. Sault scored again with 36 seconds left in the quarter.

The Blue Devils added rushing touchdowns in the second and fourth quarter to complete the scoring.

Rogers City falls to 1-6 on the season and plays St. Ignace next week.
