Onaway 3,

Joburg 1

ONAWAY — In a matchup between two undefeated Ski-Valley Conference opponents, it was the Onaway volleyball team coming away victorious to remain unbeaten and improve to 6-0 in conference play, defeating Johannesburg-Lewiston in four sets on Tuesday, winning by scores of 25-15, 25-13, 16-25 and 25-15 at Onaway High School.

“It was a big game for us tonight and a big win considering they (Joburg) was undefeated in the conference coming in,” Onaway coach Steve Watson said. “I felt like the first two sets we were like a machine. It’s tough to keep that level of play going and I thought we played a little tight in the third set, but we were able to rebound and didn’t let that loss affect us and I’m pleased with how the girls played. Overall, it was a good night and it keeps us on pace to achieve our goal of winning a Ski-Valley Conference title.”

Onaway was led by Mallorie Neelis who dished out 20 assists, recorded 20 digs, 10 kills and a pair of aces. Breya Domke finished with 19 kills and 13 digs, Malaurie McLean had 15 digs, handed out six assists, added four kills and a pair of aces.
