PREP ROUNDUP: Wildcats topple Wolves 8-0

BAY CITY–The Alpena High boys soccer team made things look easy on Wednesday on the way to beating Bay City Central in an 8-0 mercy-rule victory.

Ivo Arvidsson-Ullberg and Caleb Eaton both scored twice for the Wildcats (4-0-1), who also got single goals from Jake Schiller, Craig Tagliareni, Caleb Zaborney and Kyle Barbeau.

Alpena led 4-0 at halftime and now has scored 28 goals in its first five games.

“We’ve been talking about improving on our finishing from the Boyne City draw (last weekend) to the Bay City John Glenn game (on Monday),” Alpena coach Tim Storch said. “We’re beginning to get more efficient in the scoring area.

Alpena returns to action at 5 p.m. on Tuesday in Tawas.

Alpena’s JV team also defeated Central 8-0 and were led by hat tricks from Austin Townsend and Braeden Tillage.

VOLLEYBALL

Posen 3, Wolverine 0

POSEN–The Posen volleyball team swept Wolverine a non-conference match with Wolverine on Tuesday, winning 25-18, 25-15 and 25-12.

Madison Menzel had eight kills and two blocks for Posen and Makayla Kamyszek had five kills, 11 assists and four aces.

Ava Wesner had four kills, 12 assists and one ace and Riley Krajniak contributed three kills on three attempts as well as one assist and five aces. Lizzy Romel led Posen’s defense with four digs.

Posen plays at Indian River Inland Lakes on Thursday.
