Swami in the wrong

When things start to go haywire in Swami’s life, things seem to pile on top of each other.

Last Saturday, Swami and his son Kevin were trying to figure out why their wood burner was losing water. After taking off the outside cover and eventually doing what was necessary to drain the burner of water, Swami still hadn’t completely fixed the problem.

On Wednesday night, before the holes were welded shut and foam cover put back on, the burner filled with water again. But unfortunately Swami and Kevin ran out of time due to other commitments.

Swami has plenty on his plate this weekend including a birthday party, a Pistons game and a confirmation practice. With all that has gone on this week so far, it is going to be amazing if all goes well this weekend.

JOHANNESBURG-LEWISTON (6-12) at MIO (6-10) – Girls – A very good non-conference matchup regardless of records. Mio is currently in the midst of a long losing streak and Joburg ended a drought with a win over Onaway. All of the Cardinals’ wins have been against Ski Valley Conference foes. Swami thinks the Thunderbolts might be the next prey the Cardinals.

Mio worked back up the .500 mark with three wins in January before the roof caved in again. Swami says this is a difficult pill for the Thunderbolts to swallow, especially after years of being a top team. Emily Mangutz and Lauren Kuffel have led the Thunderbolts in an attempt to break the streak on the scoring end. Newcomer Phynix Rickett has been a welcome surprise.

The Inside play of Taylor Kroll and Claire Huber has been the mainstays of the Cardinals offense. What Joburg is missing is point production from the other three starters needed to string together wins.

Swami Sez: Johannesburg-Lewiston 48, Mio 40.

ROGERS CITY (12-5) at FAIRVIEW (9-6)- Boys – Now that the Big Dipper Division has been settled, the Hurons can concentrate on finishing the season out strong. Both teams are looking for momentum and a win tonight could be huge for both teams.

Rogers City is trying to break a losing streak after playing Onaway close the other night. With district play looming, the Hurons are looking for positives to build on. Fairview knows this feeling all too well, especially after Hale beat the Eagles in overtime recently.

Tylor Ross led the Eagles, receiving help from Jeremy Fleszar in the loss. Meanwhile it has been the scoring punch of Jacob Hilla, Phil Grambau and Andrew Radke that have been the mainstays of the Hurons.

Rogers City has no time to rest on its laurels as they hosted Alcona on Wednesday.

Swami Sez: Rogers City 64, Fairview 60.

ALCONA (9-7) at TAWAS (11-5) – Boys – Tawas is in the midst of a winning streak and it seems like Alcona is headed in the other direction. It seems to Swami that when the game is on the line, the opposition will step on the defensive side with some type of press. This is what the Tigers have trouble stopping. To make matters worse, if it is not the press, it is fouls that take the Tigers out of the fray. Alex Stevenson, Antavius Mikazes and Jordan Steiner have done there best to try and help Alcona win.

The Braves have heated up over their winning stretch and they’ve come through late in contests. Owen Irvin and Dakota Rupp have paced the Braves with 20 point games after being held to single digits in the first half. Parker Romberger can be counted on for a double digit effort as well.

Swami Sez: Tawas 59, Alcona 48.
